Emergency Orthodontic Care
We offer emergency orthodontic care in Las Vegas! Dr. Hansen is trained to be an emergency orthodontist, and he can help you with your last-minute and emergency needs. Give us a call if you are looking for an emergency dentist in Las Vegas.
Here are a few of the common emergencies orthodontic patients have:
Irritation
It is common for metal and ceramic braces to cause irritation on your gums or mouth. Try moving the wire with an eraser or cotton swab. If you can’t move the wire, then use a small piece of wax to cover the sharp end of the wire to reduce the irritation.
Soreness
At each appointment, your orthodontist will tighten your braces or Invisalign. This can cause sore teeth for a few days following the visit. Take Acetaminophen or non-Asprin pain relievers to reduce the pain and help your teeth adjust to their new position. A heating pad or warm washcloth can help reduce jaw pain as well.
Lost Appliance
If you lost your separator, headgear, Invisalign, or another appliance, then give us a call as soon as possible. We can replace the item and ensure you don’t miss a beat.
Loose Bracket
Occasionally brackets can come loose. If that happens then leave your braces as they are and call our office. We will fit you in to re-glue your bracket or place your wire again. Use wax to cover any sharp edges until your appointment and we will fit you in and get it fixed in no time. Make an appointment today at our Northwest Las Vegas, Southwest Las Vegas, or Henderson office.
Sore Teeth
If your teeth are sore after a visit… You may take acetaminophen or other non-aspirin pain relievers while you adjust to your new braces. A warm wash cloth, heating pad or warm salt water rinses may reduce the soreness in your jaws.
Wire Irritation
If your braces cause irritation… Try moving the wire away from the irritated area with a cotton swab or eraser. If the wire will not move, try covering the end of it with a small piece of cotton or a small amount of wax. If the wire is painful, you can cut it with nail clippers or scissors that have been washed and sterilized in alcohol.
Lost Separator
If a separator comes out… Call our office to see if it needs to be replaced. Some patients may lose a separator during treatment, which is common.
